§ 74-132. Special temporary parking permits.

  • (a)

    Application. The police chief may issue a temporary parking permit for a period of time not to exceed three days which shall authorize a land owner or renter to have parking in an area that is prohibited from having vehicles parked. Such permit shall be issued to the owner or the renter of the property. The police chief shall have 48 hours after receipt of each application to determine if the permit shall be issued or denied. If the permit is not issued within such time, it shall be deemed as denied. The application for a temporary parking permit shall contain the following information:

    (1)

    The name, telephone number and address of the owner/renter of the property.

    (2)

    The location (street address or description) of the property that needs the permit.

    (3)

    The dates the special permit is to begin and end.

    (4)

    The reason the special permit is requested

    (b)

    Issuance. After receipt of the above application, the police chief may issue a temporary parking permit valid for up to three days; provided, in his reasonable opinion, the reason for the application is valid and the exemption to the parking regulations would general benefit the public.

    (c)

    Restrictions. No temporary parking permit shall be issued for the following:

    (1)

    For any period of time longer than three consecutive days.

    (2)

    For longer than six days total time in any 12-month period for any vehicle at the same location.

    (3)

    For a location that will impede traffic flow, block visibility for other vehicles on the street or roadway, and will block or impede access to any driveway or property in the area.

    (4)

    For parking any vehicle, which otherwise would be illegal under this article closer than 30 feet in any direction to any intersection.

    (5)

    For any reason which, in the opinion of the police chief, would create an unsafe condition or violate the intent or purpose of this article.
